FREVO can be downloaded from the links below. The current version already contains several modules which can be used or modified freely. FREVO is implemented in pure Java and thus runs on any machine supporting the Java Runtime Environment 6 or newer. We have successfully used FREVO on Linux, Mac OS X, Windows XP, and Windows 7.

There is a core package which contains the core structure and the following modules:

Problem definitions

  • CAM: a simulation tool for a Cellular Automata Morphogenesis. See our paper on this reserach here.
  • CIPI: a simulation tool for the public goods game
  • nnracer: a simulation for a simple racecar CA similar to the gameplay of some old handheld electronic games
  • ttt2: a 2x2 Tic Tac Toe game
  • ttt3: a template file for the 3x3 Tic Tac Toe game
  • SimpleSoccer: a simulated soccer game exploring self-organized teamplay
  • cdrones: simulated search&coverage scenario for mobile robots
  • Light: simulation for braitenberg vehicles
Optimization methods
  • nnga: a Genetic Algorithm supporting multiple populations
Candidate representations
  • CompleteNetwork: a fully-connected artificial neural network
  • LayeredNetwork: a three-layered artificial neural network.
Ranking algorithms
  • AbsoluteRanking: the standard ranking algorithm for problems providing an absolute fitness value.
  • FullTournament: a round-robin tournament where everyone plays against everyone.
  • SwissSystem:a Swiss System style tournament
  • MultiSort: it is used for ranking and sorting groups of candidates.
