After his education at the Technical University of Munich and the Max-Planck-Institute for Astrophysics where he finished his PhD thesis in 1998 he continued at the Max-Planck-Institute as a Postdoc for another two years. After almost two years, where he founded a company with colleagues, A. Kercek started in the competence center CTR-Carinthian Tech Research AG in Villach as Group Manager for the Department of Image Processing and Sensors as well as Sales. In this position, he gained much experience in the application, in the management and the operational implementation of funded projects (FP6, national, etc.), but also acted as an interface to industry partners. Between 2008 and 2011 he worked as interim CTO for high-tech start-ups, lead their building-up phase, as well as the acquisition of venture financing. For mechatronic Systemtechnik GmbH, he was responsible for the development of the U.S. market, the IPR portfolio of the company, the internal management of FP7 and ENIAC JU projects. Since August 2013 he has worked as Senior Researcher/Research Manager for Lakeside Labs GmbH, where he is intensifying research around self-organizing systems with his background in Physics and Math.
